How to Upload Educational Material to an IPOD November 20, 2009

After you have found the iTunes application that is perfect for your classroom, here are the steps to upload the material onto your IPOD.

Step 1: Click on the app you want to download.

Step 2: Next to the icon on the top left of the page is a “Get App” button. Click on it.

Step 3: In order to download material from the iTunes store, you will need to create an account and password. Create an account now. You will be able to use this account each time you wish to download apps.

Step 4: Check the box to agree to the terms and conditions of the iTunes store. Then click on “Continue.”

Step 5: On the left side of the screen, under the heading “Library,” click on the tab “Application.” Inside the folder “Application,” you will find your download.

Step 6: Now you need to plug in your ipod into the computer using your USB port. * NOTE: In order to prevent the computer you are working on from syncing new, unwanted material onto your ipod, hold down the shift key while your ipod is loading AND while you complete steps 7 and 8. (The ITune application should open when you connect your iPod.)

Step 7: On the left side of the ITunes Application, under the heading “Devices,” click on your iPod.

Step 8: In the section labeled “Options,” check the box that says “Manually Manage Music.” This allows you to work on the computer and your iPod without syncing new, unwanted material. You can now release the shift key.

Step 9: On the left side of the screen, under the heading “Library,” click on “Applications.”

Step 10: Click on the application you downloaded, and drag it into the folder that you want the application to be in.

Step 11: Disconnect your iPod and check to make sure the application is on your iPod and works properly.
