Promethean World: A Great ActivClassroom Resource November 20, 2009
Would you like to get a closer look at the ActivBoard?
http://www.prometheanworld.com provides a great introduction to each of the ActivBoard products and how they may be used in the classroom.
At the prometheanworld site you can design a virtual classroom by selecting a teacher, content lesson, and ActivBoard tools.

1.Design a virtual classroom
The ActivBoard tools can be selected by clicking the list on the left side of the screen. Once a tool is selected it will be introduced into your virtual classroom. Roll your mouse over each object and they will be highlighted. If you click on a highlighted object a virtual tutorial is opened about that specific product. I had the chance to explore the ActivSlate and ActivVote tutorials.

2. Choose Activ tools to place in your classroom
ActivSlate provides freedom of movement around the classroom as a teacher. Everything that is written on the slate shows up on the ActivBoard in the front of the room. You have the opportunity to play with this tool on the site by selecting teacher, group, or student and practicing the learning activity.

Experiencing the ActivSlate
The ActivVote feature provides a multiple choice question on the ActivBoard and lets you input your answer from a student’s perspective. After all the students answer, a graph displaying the class results appears on the screen. During an actual classroom activity, this graph of results can easily be exported to the teacher’s main computer for later reference.

Exploring ActiVote
Another great feature of the ActivBoard that can be tested on the Promethean World website are competitive or group learning activities. Here are some examples from the site:

Group Activity: Math Venn Diagram

Competitive Activity: Word Composition Game
As you can see the ActivBoard and Activ accessories can open up a variety of possibilities in your classroom for teaching content through interactive, technology-based learning. Visit the Promethean World site to test out the products for yourself before you jump into the buying process!
